The Athletics yielded 626 runs, fewest in the league. Philadelphia plated 858 runs. Jimmie Foxx walloped 30 home runs for the team, while Al Simmons and Mickey Cochrane swatted 20 or more, too. Al Simmons drove in 128 runs and topped all regular batters with a .390 average. Lefty Grove recorded 31 wins on the mound for the squad, and Rube Walberg, George Earnshaw and Roy Mahaffey each also added 15 or more victories also Lefty Grove recorded a 2.06 ERA, leading regularly-used pitchers.
Connie Mack coached the team. The 1931 Philadelphia Athletics won the League Championship Series.
