The Giants led the league with just 641 runs allowed. New York scored 781 runs. Bobby Thomson walloped 32 home runs for the team, while Don Mueller, Wes Westrum, Monte Irvin and Willie Mays each swatted 20 or more, too. Monte Irvin drove in 121 runs and topped all qualifying hitters on the roster by hitting .312. Sal Maglie and Larry Jansen apiece notched 23 wins on the mound for the squad, and Jim Hearn as well added 15 or more victories as well Sal Maglie recorded a 2.93 ERA, best among regularly-used pitchers.
