The Tigers scored 680 runs and allowed 602 runs. Norm Cash walloped 30 home runs for Detroit, while Willie Horton, Al Kaline, Dick McAuliffe and Don Demeter each swatted 20 or more also. Willie Horton drove in 104 runs and topped all qualifying hitters on the roster by hitting .273. Denny McLain led the team with 16 wins, and Mickey Lolich added 15 or more wins, too Denny McLain recorded a 2.61 ERA, best among regularly-used pitchers.
