The Cincinnati Redlegs of the National League ended the 1959 season with a record of 74 wins and 80 losses, finishing fifth in the NL.
The Redlegs scored 764 runs, most in the league. Cincinnati conceded 738 runs, most in the circuit. Frank Robinson walloped 36 home runs for the squad, while Jerry Lynch, Vada Pinson and Gus Bell each added 20 or more also. Frank Robinson accounted for 125 RBI. Vada Pinson led batters with significant playing time by connecting at a .316 clip. Don Newcombe and Bob Purkey topped the squad with 13 wins each, and Don Newcombe recorded a 3.16 ERA, tops among regularly-used pitchers.
